How The GCP Marketplace Can Enhance Your Google Cloud

The Google Cloud Marketplace is sometimes overshadowed by the vast array of native services and features offered by Google Cloud Platform (GCP), but for many organisations, GCP Marketplace can be a real unsung hero.

As a digital storefront, GCP Marketplace has an array of solutions that can substantially enhance your Google Cloud capabilities, while saving you time and money.

Introducing the GCP marketplace

The Google Cloud Marketplace gives Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) a central place to list Google-approved, third-party software solutions that integrate seamlessly with Google Cloud services.

These third-party software solutions enhance the overall GCP ecosystem by adding features and capabilities that are not native to Google Cloud. As it stands, a range of ISVs currently deliver much-wanted features that seamlessly integrate into existing Google Cloud functionality. It shapes up as a cohesive solution – which may otherwise require substantial, costly internal development efforts.

Every solution listed on the GCP marketplace is thoroughly vetted and tested by Google, which simplifies procurement and deployment. You have assurance that the ISV’s software is safe, that it works as described, and that it integrates seamlessly with your Google Cloud tenancy.

You can also expect unified billing, cloud-friendly flexible pricing models, and streamlined management. Overall, the GCP Marketplace is a robust platform for discovering, deploying, and managing a variety of cloud solutions.

Examples of popular ISVs on GCP

Google Cloud Marketplace hosts a wide variety of Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) many with much-needed specialized tools and services. Here at OniGroup we’ve worked with a number of these ourselves, and some of our favourites include:

  • Fivetran: A Google Cloud Marketplace add-on that simplifies data integration by automating the extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) process. We’ve seen how it helps our clients ensure a consistent and up-to-date data flow into Google Cloud BigQuery, which is popular for real-time analytics and business intelligence.
  • JumpCloud: GCP still has a couple of gaps around identity and access management (IAM) and device onboarding. JumpCloud offers a cloud-based directory platform that unifies IAM, and device management – all integrating seamlessly with Google Workspace. It’s a more comprehensive solution for managing user identities and securing devices.
  • Datadog: We use Datadog as a comprehensive monitoring and security platform that offers deep insights into GCP environments. Datadog includes support for Google Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, and Vertex AI. It enables real-time observability and proactive issue resolution for cloud-native and hybrid applications.
  • Elastic: Another popular ISV, Elastic delivers powerful search, observability, and security capabilities through its Elasticsearch engine. GCP tenants use Elastic to perform full-text search, real-time analytics, and threat detection, thereby enhancing data exploration and system monitoring.

The list is endless. Other examples include Shopify which has a GCP Marketplace presence, and Optimizely, which offers a digital experience platform that includes tools for experimentation, personalization, and content management.

So, for instance, a Google Cloud tenant could choose to deploy Fivetran to help speed up data ingress, while buying the Elastic service for capable, full-text search that goes beyond the search built into GCP.

Benefits of using GCP marketplace

No cloud environment – neither AWS nor Azure – is gap-free, and of course, these gaps vary. One of the key benefits of using the GCP Marketplace is the ability to fill gaps in your cloud environment with ready-made, approved software.

By leveraging the GCP Marketplace, businesses can avoid the complexities and costs associated with building or coding these solutions from scratch – or indeed, the inconvenience of building around the gaps in their platform.

Instead, you can quickly deploy production-ready applications that have been vetted for security and reliability by Google. This not only accelerates time-to-value but ensures that the solution seamlessly integrates with GCP's robust infrastructure.

Because Google Cloud Marketplace consolidates all charges into a single invoice, businesses do not have to manage multiple vendor relationships or deal with fragmented billing processes. All software and services procured through the marketplace are included in the existing Google Cloud bill, streamlining financial management and reducing administrative overhead.

OniGroup can help you choose
